You could request for the 5% somerfield student discount card with any cashiers in the stores. Anyway, you have got to show them your student card. No any application procedure is needed.

There is a term being stated on the card: This card may only be used at somerfield stores and must be presented at the time of purchase with a valid NUS card. The fact is I do not own a NUS card and the cashier had never asked for it.
I have used it for up to 10 times and really save some money :)
